Kingsley Napley LLP

Law firm Kingsley Napley LLP is pleased to announce that James Alleyne has joined the firm as Legal Counsel to further strengthen its Financial Services team.

Alleyne has spent the last seven years at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in its enforcement division, where he was instrumental in developing their early intervention approach and their monitoring of the crypto sector.

Prior to the FCA he was an investigative lawyer at the SFO where he conducted restraint and confiscation litigation in cases of serious complex fraud and bribery, and was the prosecutor on international criminal money laundering investigations.

At Kingsley Napley, he will advise on the full range of FCA enforcement issues as well as heading up a new Supervisory Intervention team within the Financial Services Group.

Led by partner Jill Lorimer, the Financial Services Group advises regulated firms from across the financial services sector (including banks, investment managers, crypto firms and financial advisers) as well as financial professionals on legal issues spanning employment to civil fraud to internal investigations. It also assists clients who face supervisory, investigatory or enforcement action by the FCA.

His appointment reflects our clients' growing requirement for early, proactive legal support as the regulator takes an increasingly assertive approach to non-compliance and any activities considered to pose a risk to consumers and markets.

Jill Lorimer, Head of the Financial Services Group at Kingsley Napley, said: "James is a significant hire for us and I'm delighted to welcome him to the firm. As the FCA continues to ramp up its supervision of financial services James has the perfect breadth of expertise to help our clients with defence advice and representation. He will also be able to assist clients wanting to mitigate regulatory risk in their business operations. I know he will be a great asset to Kingsley Napley and our clients."
