Finma announces changes to executive board

Finma's Board of Directors has appointed Johanna Preisig as a member of the Executive Board.

Preisig will lead the Strategic Services division from 1 July 2020. The current head of this division, Rupert Schaefer, will take over the Recovery and Resolution division starting from that date and will remain a member of the Executive Board.

David Wyss, head of the Recovery and Resolution division, will leave Finma at the end of June 2020 at his own request to pursue new opportunities elsewhere. He holds a doctorate in law and joined Finma in April 2011 as a member of the Executive Board and head of the newly created Enforcement division, before he took over the leadership of the new Recovery and Resolution division in 2016. He previously worked for the Swiss Federal Banking Commission's legal service from 1998 onwards.

Preisig joined Finma in 2014 as a lawyer specialising in the solvency and liquidity of banks. In 2016 she took on a managerial role within the Recovery and Resolution division and focused particularly on the recovery and resolution plans of systemically important banks. She previously worked as a lawyer for Zürcher Kantonalbank in the legal, tax and compliance department.

Schaefer has been a member of the Finma Executive Board since 2015. He joined Finma in 2010, where he led the International Affairs team from 2013 onwards. He previously worked in academia.
