Generali promotes veteran selector Casagrande to head of insurance portfolios

Generali Group Investments, Asset & Wealth Management has appointed Filippo Casagrande as head of insurance portfolios investment strategy. 

Supporting and reporting the firm's CIO Timothy Ryan, Casagrande will be responsible for overseeing the group's insurance investment portfolios, providing support on investment and divestments transactions. 

He will also be in charge of steering the Group investments in external asset managers, scouting and implementing new investment opportunities and structuring potential alternative solutions to achieve the group insurance companies' targets.

Casagrande has held different positions at Generali since he joined in 2009, including head of investments in Generali Investments Partners and head of Generali Multi Manager & head of Group Alternative Fixed Income.

He is also chairman of the board of directors of Generali Investments Sicav Luxembourg and member of the board of directors of the insurance companies Genertel and GenerteLife. 

Antonio Cavarero on the other hand will be replacing Casagrande in his current position, assuming the role of head of Investments in Generali Investments Partners.

Before the appointment, Cavarero was head of Fixed Income in Generali Insurance Asset Management, and joined the Generali Group in 2014 after gaining some international experience working at leading investment banks such as Deutsche Bank, Citi, Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking, Banca IMI, Banca Euromobiliare.
