Dutch banking group ING has appointed Cristóbal Paredes as managing director for the firm's corporate & investment banking business in Spain and Portugal (Iberia).
Paredes will be responsible for ING's wholesale banking business reporting directly to Roel Huisman, CEO at ING Spain and Portugal. He will also be a member of the bank's board of directors.
Paredes has been working at ING for the past two decades holding a wide range of senior positions. In 2002 he was appointed Head Structured Acquisition Finance at the firm's wholesale banking department. Since then, he has held various positions linked to the funding of structured acquisitions, which have helped the firm to place itself as a key partner for this type of transactions, said ING in a note.
In 2009, he took on the role of head of banking services and corporate & event finance and, from 2018, he has been head of strategic products & lending.
Paredes succeeds Iñigo Churruca, who leaves the bank after 30 years of service.
