Franklin Templeton has appointed Gaston Brandes as head Institutional Portfolio Manager EMEA and Jennifer McCabe as legal transaction manager at Franklin Real Asset Advisors (FRAA).
Brandes and McCabe are assuming their new roles at Franklin Templeton in January 2020. Both report to Raymond Jacobs, FRAA managing director, with Brandes based in Frankfurt and McCabe in London.
Brandes, a senior real estate professional, re-joined Franklin Templeton after 13 years and will be responsible for representing the private real estate investment team across institutional distribution channels in the EMEA region. As an integrated member of the investment team, he will focus on partnership with key distribution channels to support business growth and retention.
As legal transaction manager, McCabe will focus on the legal investment aspects of European private real estate transactions, working closely with the investment team and maintaining overall deal oversight.
Prior to re-joining Franklin Templeton, Brandes was managing director, head of Business Development Real Estate at Aviva Investors, where he was responsible for driving the capital raising process with European and Nordic institutional investors. Before that, Brandes worked as head of Capital Markets for Grosvenor's Fund Management business in London, where he led the capital markets team and had overall responsibility for capital raising and client relationships. His earlier roles included executive director for Global Real Estate Products and Business Development at UBS Global Asset Management in Zurich and Frankfurt and at Franklin Templeton in various positions in Fort Lauderdale (Florida), New York, London and Frankfurt.
McCabe was as an associate at CMS, during which time she completed a secondment to Franklin Templeton's real estate team in London, working alongside the team on several asset acquisitions for one of FRAA's core strategies. She trained at Nabarro LLP (now CMS), obtaining experience in funds, corporate, banking and property law.
