Societe Generale Securities Services (SGSS) has appointed Roberto Pecora as chief executive officer (CEO) and country head for Italy.
Pecora, who will report to SGSS's management board, will work alongside David Abitbol, president of the board and head of SGSS, and with Alessandro Gumier, head of SGSS global banking and investor solutions in Italy.
Milan-based, Pecora is succeeding Frédéric Barroyer, who was recently appointed head of group retirement and employee savings at Societe Generale Insurance.
Pecora brings some 20 years' experience in the industry having worked at companies including Lyxor, Societe Generale, and the Allianz group.
At Lyxor Asset Management, Pecora was Italy's head of global markets and responsible for the firm's business operations in the country after having led the Italian team of global equity and derivatives. At the French asset manager, he also was head of equity structured product sales.
The first time he joined Societe Generale was in 1999, when he started working at the equity derivatives structured products team in Paris for the Italian market.
Pecora started his financial career as an equity portfolio manager at the asset management division of Allianz.
