Self Bank Banca Privada, the revamped business of Self Bank following its ownership swap last year, continues the hiring spree for its private banking unit in Spain.
The Spanish bank has now appointed Javier Barallat, Ángel Plaza and Nicolás Cubero as private bankers and Isabel Calero as a senior portfolio manager to the firm's discretionary management team.
Calero joins Self Bank from Credit Suisse, where she spent six years and a half working as a portfolio manager.
As per the private bankers, Barallat joins Self Bank from Renta 4 where he worked as a private banker for the last three years. On the other hand, Plaza previously was a financial adviser for the private banking business of Banca March during the past six years and a half while Cubero joins from Nova, a human resources company.
Self Bank Banca Privada announced an enhancement to its business model in October 2019, reflected partly on the addition of the words banca privada (private banking) to its re-branded name. According to the firm, this addition aims at emphasising the firm's focus on private banking.
As part of its services expansion, the bank announced last year it would be offering tax advice on business funding and real estate investments.
Former Self Bank has been undergoing a progressive transformation process since it was acquired by private equity firm Warburg Pincus and Spanish banking veteran Javier Marín Romano in February 2019.
