BBVA has appointed Peio Belausteguigoitia as the new responsible for the bank's business in Spain following Cristina de Parias' departure.
De Parias, who has over 30 years' financial career, leaves her responsibilities as BBVA Spain head but will remain in the group as an advisor for BBVA in Mexico. Belausteguigoitia has been responsible for the business development of BBVA Spain since 2017, when he was appointed while holding also the post of director for Spain's Northern region. He joined BBVA in 1997.
Gonzalo Rodríguez will replace Peio Belausteguigoitia as head of business development at BBVA Spain. After more than a decade at McKinsey, he joined BBVA in 2013 and, in 2016, was appointed head of digital transformation in Spain.
On the other hand, Luís Simões will succeed Gonzalo Rodríguez as head of retail customer solutions in the client solutions area. Luís Simões began his career at BBVA in 1998 in Portugal and has held since then various functions in retail, corporate and corporate banking, with responsibility for the bank's business activities in countries including Portugal, Spain, Belgium, United Kingdom and France.
