Banca Widiba to distribute Thematics Asset Management's funds

Italian online bank Widiba has reached an agreement with Natixis IM's Thematics Asset Management to distribute the funds of the French thematic boutique to the bank's clients in Italy.

Thematics Asset Management, a subsidiary of the French asset manager Natixis Investment Managers, was set up by several former Pictet fund managers in March this year. The firm, which exists within Natixis IM's multi-boutique set-up, launched with a range of high conviction strategies covering robotics and AI, safety and water.

Paris-based, the thematic boutique is led by Karen Kharmandarian, chairman & CIO, and by Mohammed Amor, managing partner and head of Development. The investment team is formed by Arnaud Bisschop, Frédéric Dupraz and Nolan Hoffmeyer, who joined Natixis Investment Managers in November 2018 and, by Simon Gottelier, who joins as a senior portfolio manager on the Water strategy.

The management team consists of the above-named partners, specialised in global thematic investing, with a high-conviction, long-term approach and an emphasis on integrating Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations throughout the investment decision-making process.

The investment process relies on broad investable universes and the building of portfolios based solely on the merits of the individual stocks. The result is a range of portfolios that reflect high levels of conviction and are global, unconstrained, benchmark-agnostic and socially responsible.

Frédéric Dupraz, one of the firm's co-founders, presented the Safety Fund at InvestmentEurope's Thematic Forum Milan recently.

The Fund, co-managed by Dupraz and Nolan Hoffmeyer, invests primarily in equity securities of companies around the world that have been identified by the manager as being participants in or having an exposure to potential growth relating to the investment theme of global safety. It is actively managed with an emphasis on companies developing their services and technology in relation to the global safety theme like physical safety and food safety, internet security software, telecommunications and computer hardware security, access and identification security, traffic security and workplace security.

Luigi Provenza, head of bank investment and wealth management at Widiba, told to some Italian financial papers: "Widiba is a distributor in Italy focused on innovation and financial consultancy and we found in Natixis IM a perfect partner to offer our customers high quality investment solutions.

"We believe that exposure to these long-term trends is fundamental to providing our customers with sustainable and attractive long-term value and we are proud to be the first in Italy to offer the Thematics AM funds range."
