AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has expanded its gender diversity mission and entered into partnership with Fondsfrauen GmbH.
As a sponsor, AXA IM will support Fondsfrauen GmbH financially as well as with know-how in Germany and Switzerland. At the same time, AXA-IM staff, both as mentors and as mentees or workshop participants, will be able to benefit from the network's funding opportunities.
"Working with Fondsfrauen is a great opportunity to empower women in our business and throughout the industry," said Amelie Watelet, AXA's chief transformation officer & Global head of HR & Communications.
AXA IM is already very active in terms of gender equality. "We have implemented clear initiatives within the company to increase our attractiveness, retain and promote career paths for female talent. These include coaching and mentoring programs, flexible working and unified support for women and men during and after parental leave."
Since 2018, AXA IM has been certified by EDGE (Economic Dividends for Gender Equality) for these activities. The management board of AXA IM already consists of 44% women, and at senior executives the proportion of women is more than one third. "In the longer term, we aim to achieve gender equality at all levels - as we have made a public pledge by signing the Women in Finance Charter," said Watelet.
To achieve this goal, international sectoral initiatives, for which AXA IM works with competitors, such as the 30% Club and the AXA IM Diversity Project and now Fondsfrauen will help. "We need to drive this cultural transform to change perceptions and attract more female junior investment professionals," Watelet added.
Diversity has also entered the investment processes of AXA IM. An appropriate theme fund was launched in 2017: The Women Empowerment fund that invests in companies, which stand out positively in terms of diversity.
Creating an inclusive and fair workplace for men and women is one of the key priorities of the AXA IM Action Plan for Diversity and Integration.
