BNP Paribas Asset Management has appointed Patrick Simion as chief of staff to CEO Frédéric Janbon.
Simion first joined the manager in September 2018 as head of Public Affairs, a role he will retain alongside the new one. Based in Paris he will report to Janbon.
The new role involves supporting management in decision making, and co-ordinating and executing strategy. As head of Public Affairs, Simion is responsible for representing the manager and increasing its visibility with French, European and international regulatory organisations and bodies.
Previously, Simion was a parliamentary assistant in the UK's House of Commons and then worked at the Directorate General of the French Treasury. He joined French financial regulator the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) in 2015 and in 2016 became deputy director of the AMF's Legal and Complex Expertise in Asset Management division.
He also chairs the Brexit Working Group at the Association Française de Gestion (AFG), the French asset management association, and is a lecturer in financial mathematics at Sciences Po in Paris.
