Willis Towers Watson has appointed Robert Engels as head of the M&A advisory team in Corporate Risk & Broking.
The ten-member consulting team helps strategic investors as well as financial investors recognize and assess risks in the run-up to a potential deal as part of an insurance due diligence process. It then supports implementation and post-merger integration. By placing specific M&A insurance policies, the team helps to transfer risks from the transactions to the insurance market itself, with the aim of making M&A transactions as smoothly as possible.
Engels joins from Aon Germany, where he most recently headed the M&A and Transaction Solutions business in the DACH region.
He has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, including around 17 years in M &A. Since 2016 Engels has worked for the insurance broker Aon, where he was most recently responsible for M&A and Transaction Solutions in DACH. Previously, he spent eight years in private equity and M&A services for Marsh in Germany, where he has been responsible for this area over the past two and a half years.
