Italian online marketplace lending has signed a fintech agreement with French neobank Qonto in a bid to respond to the digital and credit access needs of SMEs in Italy.

According to the two companies, the partnership responds to a real market need, which consists on the growing trend of companies and professionals looking for alternative solutions to traditional banks to find financing.

The agreement aims at responding to these specific needs in terms of daily financial activities and access to credit, offering through digital services more flexibility, customisation, and higher speed than that provided by the traditional banking system.

Qonto is a French neobank for freelancers and SMEs. It was founded in 2016 and the initial product was launched in July 2017 in France. In 2019, the fintech start-up entered Italy, Spain and Germany.

Antonio Lafiosca, Group COO at says: "The agreement with Qonto allows us in one hand to meet our customers' needs - who increasingly want to rely on digital services to manage their banking activities in a dynamic and flexible way -, and on the other, to expand our users data base with those companies that already use digital banking services but may need financing."
