Brian Newman, managing director and business leader for the Artisan Partners Thematic team, will outline Artisan Partners' thematic approach to thematic idea generation at the InvestmentEurope's Thematic Forum Milan 2019 to be held on the 22 of November.
Artisan Partners' thematic team investment approach is designed to identify inflections in multi-year trends where the team has differentiated views on industry fundamentals.
Risk management is woven throughout the process, from deep, bottom-up analysis to portfolio construction in an effort to provide attractive risk-adjusted returns, according to the investment firm.
Newman is a managing director of Artisan Partners and the business leader for the firm's thematic team. Prior to joining Artisan Partners in January 2019, he was a director of business development at BlackRock where he led a sales team within the institutional client business. In this role, Newman was responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with institutional investors, including foundations, endowments and public and private pensions. Before that, he held responsibilities for spearheading the institutional distribution effort on behalf of the largest sell-side, exchange-traded fund desk at a global financial firm.
Earlier in his career, he was an equity strategist at Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital, tasked with managing relationships with corporate clients by engaging with CEOs, CFOs, treasurers and investor relations professionals. He began his career as a specialist and member of the New York Stock Exchange in 1998.
