There is still a long way to go in gender equality, especially with regards to the presence of women in top positions."

Alessandra Festini, portfolio manager at Italy's pension fund for lawyers Cassa Forense, has been shortlisted in the category of Investment Woman of the Year.

Commenting on her nomination, Festini said: "I am honoured to have been shortlisted at the Women in Investment Awards Italy 2019 with other women that I have known and admired for a long time.

"I like to think of myself as an example for other women who work in the financial sector, and in particular in the world of Italian pension funds.

"There is still a long way to go in gender equality, especially with regards to the presence of women in top positions.

"The career for a woman becomes even more difficult when she becomes a mother - not only for ancient prejudices, but also for the actual lack of infrastructure to support women and their families."
