Frédéric Dupraz, co-founder of Thematics Asset Management at Natixis Investment Managers, will address the concept of "safety" as an investment theme at InvestmentEurope's Thematic Forum Milan 2019 to be held on the 22 of November.
According to Dupraz, safety is a primary human need and ultimately enabler of a better life, which constitutes the main investment theme of the firm's Thematics Safety fund.
Dupraz explained: "Safety is a fast-growing and resilient market. Technology is rapidly changing our world, creating new risks to the safety of individuals, communities, industries and nation states.
The ever-growing demand for greater safety in all aspect of our lives – from data protection and secure payment to safe transport – represents an attractive and differentiated investment opportunity.”
"The ever-growing demand for greater safety in all aspect of our lives - from data protection and secure payment to safe transport - represents an attractive and differentiated investment opportunity."
Natixis believes that in a context of anaemic growth and ever-increasing short-termism, traditional investment styles are challenged to deliver repeatable excess performance to investors without undue risks. The company added: "We, at Thematics AM, have opted for a different roadmap as we use a thematic lens to look at the world.
"We seek to capitalize on the tailwinds provided by secular growth drivers and the primary forces that underpin them."
Dupraz is one of the founders and owners of Thematics Asset Management. He also manages the Thematics Safety Strategy.
With a decade of experience managing long-only global thematic equities, the fund manager began his investment career at Pictet in 2004. Prior to that, he was a consultant in the financial services industry with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
