Pictet shakes up Asia leadership in growth bid

Pictet Wealth Management has gone on a hiring spree to raise its coverage for Asia and specifically, Greater China, and is overhauling its leadership in Asia.

Claude Haberer, equity partner of the Pictet Group and chief executive of Pictet Wealth Management (PWM) Asia, has been appointed the chairman of PWM Asia effective from October 2019. He will support Boris Collardi, Pictet Group's managing partner responsible for PWM Asia.

Haberer will be succeeded by Tee Fong-Seng as chief executive of PWM Asia. Tee will be based in Singapore and was most recently the chairman of EFG Bank's Asia advisory board.

He has held senior positions at Credit Suisse, including vice chairman in Asia and CEO of its Hong Kong branch.

The 214-year-old Geneva-based group has also announced 20 hires as part of its growth ambitions on the continent.

The senior appointments, "along with this major recruitment initiative for Greater China reflect Pictet Wealth Management's continued commitment and ambitions in Asia and set the stage for the next phase of growth in the region," Collardi said.

Pictet employs more than 250 staff in the region, who are based in Hong Kong and Singapore.
