"The case for gender diversity is clearly stated and documented in many industries. Women bring diverse perspectives, their leadership

style can drive more innovation and collaboration, coupled with a more balanced view about things."

"What we are talking here is about equal opportunities, it is not that women or men are 'better' but that diverse groups - where both men and women are at the table - make better decisions than non-diverse groups. Which means that, regardless of the original motivation for considering gender diversity, companies with increased diversity and a more inclusive workforce ultimately result in achieving stronger financial performances and higher stability."

The full shortlist for the category Fund Manager of the Year includes:

  • Barbara Ellero, Anthilia Capital Partners (pictured, above right)
  • Carla Scarano, Anima SGR
  • Giulia Culot, Generali Investments Partners
  • Patrizia Bussoli, Pramerica SGR
  • Valentina Franceschini, Wise Equity SGR

The Awards, set to take place on 2 October at the Palazzo Parigi hotel in Milan, seek to recognise the achievements of women in Italy's investment industry across multiple areas, including analysis, fund management and fund selection. But they also seek to recognise some of the particular challenges faced by women in returning to the workforce, and those seeking to provide mentorship to others.
