Vontobel makes Basel push with WM experts from UBS

Vontobel has appointed two new wealth management experts in Basel, where it plans to further expand its activities.
Daniel Schüpbach, who served as head UBS Family Banking in the Basel region and as a member of the Management Committee HNWI Wealth Management, and Matthias Crettaz, Deskhead UBS Family Banking HNWI/WM 2.0 in the Basel region, will strengthen Vontobel Wealth Management's advisory team in Basel from 1 November 2019.
Schüpbach will, at the same time, take over the regional management of Wealth Management in Basel. Both have many years of experience in advising wealthy Swiss private clients as well as very close professional and personal ties to the Basel region.
In his new role, Schüpbach will work closely with Jean-Pierre Stillhart, who is responsible for Wealth Management in Zurich and Central Switzerland and additionally took over the lead of the whole of German-speaking Switzerland for Vontobel Wealth Management in spring 2019. In geographical terms, this region encompasses Basel, Berne, Chur, Lucerne, Olten, Schaffhausen, St. Gallen, Winterthur and Zurich.
The Swiss bank has been offering its products and services, as well as its expertise as a globally active wealth and asset manager, to its private and institutional clients in Basel for around 10 years. The acquisition of Notenstein La Roche Privatbank AG in 2018 enabled Vontobel to expand its presence in Basel and it moved into the former La Roche head office in Rittergasse 25. In total, around 35 employees from Wealth Management and Asset Management serve clients in Basel and the surrounding region. Vontobel also partners with external asset managers based in the region. It intends to further grow its local presence - thus also underscoring its strong commitment to its Swiss home market.
