InvestmentEurope's Iberian Summit took place in Barcelona on 30-31 May, hosting around 50 fund selector delegates from Spain, Portugal, and Andorra for two days of presentations.
Those presenting at the event included WisdomTree, Artisan Partners, Eurizon Capital SGR, Mirabaud Asset Management, Polar Capital, Gesiuris Asset Management, State Street Global Advisors, BMO, and Gabelli Funds.
Collectively they covered a wide range of topics ranging from traditional asset classes including fixed income and equities, to alternative type asset classes, absolute return, emerging market themes/funds, and ESG.

The event included a keynote speaker on venture capital, a panel discussion on alternative investments, a second plenary session on ESG and gender equality, and further group activities aimed at fostering networking among delegates.

Credit Suisse Spain's Íñigo Iturriaga moderated the panel on alternative investments, in which Inversis Gestión' senior analyst Alejandro Allona, Fernando Sánchez Santidrián, head of alternative investments at Caixabank AM, and Guilherme Onofre, head of fund selection at the Portuguese bank Caixagest, discussed the asset class at a time in which investors' willingness to consider alternative assets has gained impetus by the era of ultra-low interest rates.

The event also counted the CFA Society Spain and Portugal branches as its educational partner which, through an ongoing series of events for investment practitioners, offers a range of educational opportunities while facilitating the open exchange of information and opinions among investment professionals.
