Donatella Principe, director of Market and Distribution Strategy at Fidelity International, has cited Christine Lagarde's recent path to head the European Central Bank in her response to being shortlisted in the Investment Woman of the Year category of the InvestmentEurope Women In Investment Awards Italy 2019, which are taking place 2 October in Milan.
"When I read the names of the other candidates, I felt really proud to be part of this group of talented women," she said.
"I already consider this as a result and recognition of the commitment made in many years of study and work, without ever sparing me. With the recent appointment of a woman, Christine Lagarde, heading an important institution like the ECB after the IMF, it made me remember one of her famous statements about women who do not achieve success 'by chance'."
The full shortlist for the Investment Woman of the Year category includes:
- Anna Vigliotti, Allianz Global Investors
- Cinzia Tagliabue, Amundi
- Alessandra Festini, Cassa Forense
- Anna Maria Reforgiato Recupero, Generali Investments Partners

As part of her nomination documentation, Donatella Principe provided the following video.
Taking place at the Palazzo Parigi, the Awards seek to recognise the achievements of women in the investment industry in Italy across multiple areas, including analysis, fund management and fund selection; however, they also seek to recognise some of the particular challenges faced by women in returning to the workforce, and those seeking to provide mentorship to others.
