SMP Group buys Jersey-based Helm Trust

Palatine Private Equity-owned SMP Group, a professional and financial services group headquartered in the Isle of Man has announced a deal to acquire Helm Trust Company Limited, a trust and corporate services provider based in Jersey.
The transaction, for an undisclosed sum, is subject to regulatory approval. Helm has been delivering independent trust and company administration services for over 25 years in Jersey. The transaction comes under a month after Manchester-based Palatine Private Equity completed the management buyout of SMP Group.
Established in 2007, SMP Group is a provider of fund administration and corporate and trust services. Headquartered in the Isle of Man, the company employs over 200 people across seven global offices, which include Jersey, Switzerland, Malta, Hong Kong, Cayman Islands and the Bahamas.
Helm represents a very significant acquisition for SMP. The Group now has real scale in the Isle of Man, Jersey and the Caribbean and we are aiming to add to this with further acquisitions. With additional international reach, SMP can offer its clients a truly global service"
