Polar makes senior management changes and mulls launches

Polar Capital is making changes to senior management as part of the group's succession planning, as well as hiring a head of marketing.
Chief operating officer and finance director and John Mansell has been promoted to executive director and will work alongside chief executive Gavin Rochussen on Polar Capital's strategic development.
Chief financial officer Samir Ayub has been promoted to finance director and head of operations Nick Farren has been promoted to chief operating officer, with all three moves being implemented in late July.
Meanwhile Artemis' head of UK marketing Vik Heerah has been appointed as head of marketing at Polar Capital.
Polar Capital has launched a series of funds in the past year, including Emerging Market Stars, China Stars, Asian Stars and Global Absolute Return, and is looking to further bolster its offering with new teams and further launches.
"Because the company is capacity constrained, we try to grow the business by adding teams and funds," Rochussen explained. "Most of my time is spent identifying new teams. The quality of the team is most important, as well as whether it has been outperforming and attracting assets."
He continued: "We have quite a few funds in the incubation phase. Often new funds are derivatives of what we already do. For example, we could launch a mid-cap version of the Polar Capital Healthcare Opportunities fund.
"We are also under represented in Europe. We have one fund - the Polar Capital European ex-UK Income fund. There could be a European opportunities fund. Some day Europe will come back."
