Main Capital SGR gets green light to operate in Italy

Main Capital SGR has obtained regulatory approvals from Banca d'Italia to operate as an asset management firm in Italy.

Main Capital, set up by Vincenzo Macaione in 2018, focuses on alternative strategies, mainly in private debt and direct lending funds investing in Italian SMEs with the aim to support their development.

Vincenzo Macaione is the firm's managing director and Nicola Rossi its chairman.

With the aim to promote alternative vehicles giving access to credit, Main Capital is set to launch its first fund: The Main Capital Fund I, a direct lending strategy managed by the firm's CIO Francesco Carobbi alongside a team of five senior analysts split between Milan and London.

The Fund, which seeks to reach €250m, will mostly invest in Italian companies but may also invest in Italian companies that are based across Europe.
