Premier Asset Management has appointed HSBC Global Asset Management's Helene Winch as head of responsible investing.
In the newly-created role, Winch will oversee the development of Premier's responsible investing strategy as well as integrating ESG factors into the firm's investment philosophy and process.
She will work closely with the investment team of the Premier Ethical fund. Winch was previously senior responsible investment adviser at HSBC GAM. Prior to that, she was director, head of policy and research at the Principles for Responsible Investment, and director, head of policy, at BT Pension Scheme Management.
She is set to join Premier in September.
Chief investment officer Neil Birrell commented: "We are delighted Helene is joining us as head of responsible investing. The asset management industry is at an important point in embracing environmental, social and governance criteria as a core part of how it operates and invests on behalf of clients.
"Premier believes that asset management firms have a key role to play in harnessing their clients' assets to create a more sustainable economy and society.
"Helene has considerable experience and expertise in the area of responsible investing, and she will play a key role in developing our approach to responsible investing across our broader investment platform and for our specialist ethical investment product."
Winch added: "I am really pleased to be joining Premier as head of responsible investing. There is increasing client focus on this area and this is an exciting time for investment firms such as Premier, as we continue to integrate responsible investing, covering ESG factors including sustainability and climate change, into our investment approach. I welcome the opportunity to play an important role in the next stages of the company's development in these areas."
