US asset manager TCW has made available to investors in Italy an equity fund investing in artificial intelligence.
The Global Artificial Intelligence Equity Strategy seeks to achieve capital appreciation primarily through investing in high quality growth companies that benefit from rising influences of artificial intelligence.
With around $1.3bn in assets under management, the investment strategy is co-managed by Jeffrey Lin and Thomas Lee. It seeks to maximize total return and focuses on the technological leaders in position to grow over the medium-and long-term as industry demand increases.
The fund reinvests cash flows into 25-60 listed companies with a minimum market capitalisation of $300m that capitalize on innovations in analysis, forecasting, efficiency, automation, consistency, and scale.
The portfolio includes businesses with barriers to competition that benefit the TCW's investment theme in areas ranging from next-generation, data-centers, cloud computing, internet of things and autonomous vehicles.
It uses a disciplined bottom-up fundamental analysis that allocates across a wide range of sectors including Information Technology; Consumer Discretionary; Industrials; Health Care; Real Estate and Telecommunication Services.
TCW opened its Milan office in September 2018 in a move aimed at strengthening its position in the country where he had entered at the end of 2015.
