Mundi Ventures' CEO Javier Santiso on venture capital at Iberian Summit Barcelona 2019

Javier Santiso, founder and CEO of the European venture capital fund Mundi Ventures, will address venture capital as an emerging market asset class at the upcoming Iberian Summit Barcelona 2019.

According to the professional investor, venture capital is increasingly becoming a major trend of investment globally - which could be treated as an emerging market asset class - with around $100bn invested in the US in 2018, a similar amount in China, and an increasing prospect of growth in Europe.

Santiso currently invests in deep tech, artificial intelligence, industrial internet and fintech/insurtech, in London, Berlin, Zurich, Helsinki, Tel Aviv, and in various Spanish cities including Madrid, Barcelona, San Sebastián, Bilbao, and Valencia.

Before founding Mundi Ventures, he was Europe's CEO of Khazanah, a $50bn sovereign wealth fund from out East Asia, headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, as well as global head of Tech Investments. He has also been chief economist at BBVA and at the OECD Development Centre. He founded Amerigo, the €400m venture capital fund of funds of Telefónica.

Set to take place on 30 and 31 of May at the Sofia Hotel in Barcelona, the Summit will be hosting an audience of around 40 fund selectors from Spain, Portugal and Andorra to a wide range of topics and trends that are currently relevant for the industry.
