BNY Mellon has appointed Christoph Stähler as head of Trust and Depositary Germany, effective 1 April 2019.
Stähler will be responsible for managing BNY Mellon's depositary activities in Germany, including operational oversight, service delivery, client satisfaction, setting the strategic direction for the business and ensuring the business adheres to all relevant risk, compliance and regulatory guidelines.
Based in Frankfurt, he will report into Keith Whitelock, EMEA head of Trust and Depositary.
Stähler brings over 20 years' experience in the financial services sector, most of that in depositary and custody services. Most recently, he was head of Helaba's Depotbank business, based in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf. He previously held senior management roles at Commerzbank and DZ Bank. He started his career as a consultant at KPMG BearingPoint.
Stähler is the latest of a number of senior hires BNY Mellon has made for its asset servicing business in Germany over the last year, including Katherine Starks, head of asset servicing for the German, Austria and CEE region, and Stephan Koschmieder, head of business development for the German, Austria and CEE region. Linda McMahon joined BNY Mellon as head of UK Trust and Depositary from State Street in February this year.
