Morningstar has appointed Jochen Thiel as head of Germany & Austria, effective 1 April 2019. Thiel will be based in Frankfurt and report to Christian Mesenholl, head of Central Europe for Morningstar.
Thiel will be responsible for leading the company's regional go-to-market strategy and business development, managing key client relationships with banks, advisory firms, asset managers, and consultants.
With more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, he was most recently co-CEO/Board Member for Bayerische Börse AG, the operator of the Munich Stock Exchange. Prior to that, he held roles as managing director for Tradegate Exchange, a Deutsche Börse AG subsidiary; executive director at Deutsche Börse; and managing principal at Capco.
He is also a member of the advisory board of 12Tree GmbH, an investment management company for institutional investors, investing in ecologically and socially sustainable agriculture projects in Latin America.
