The Board of Directors of the Swiss Bankers Association (SBA) have elected Jörg Gasser as the new CEO.
Claude-Alain Margelisch, who has been with the SBA for over 25 years and served as its CEO for nine of them, wishes to pursue a change of career involving high-level mandates in both the private and public sectors and will therefore leave the association during the second half of this year.
Gasser will take up the role as CEO of the SBA on 1 May 2019. He began his career with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), where he was placed in charge of a number of sensitive negotiations in the Middle East and Asia. As secretary general of the Federal Department of Justice and Police (FDJP) and the Federal Department of Finance (FDF), and most recently as State Secretary for International Finance (SIF), he has been a resolute advocate of a sustainable and competitive financial sector with lean regulation.
