CBRE Global Investors has appointed Eric Decouvelaere as head of Retail EMEA, along with a promotion for John Mulqueen, previously head of Transactions for EMEA, who becomes head of Offices EMEA.
Decouvelaere joins CBRE GI from McArthurGlen where he served as COO, working on strategies and organic growth. In the new role he will be responsible for CBRE GI's €15.2bn retail platform in EMEA - which includes shopping centres, high street and retail parks across the region. He will oversee the relevant retail asset management teams.
Sophie van Oosterom, CEO & CIO CBRE GI, said: "Eric's appointment further reinforces our expertise as pan-European retail operator. Eric brings with him a wealth of experience and intimate understanding of the retail sector and how this sector has evolved over the past cycles. He has a proven track record of successfully implementing strategies that respond to changing market conditions, increasing customer and tenant experience and as such adding significant value to investors' portfolios."
Decouvelaere, Mulqueen and Philip Dunne, who joined the company as head of Logistics EMEA last year, oversee the performance of respective sector platforms, implement and oversee sector investment strategies along the risk curve, and ensure best practice in EMEA operations.
Van Oosterom added: "The sector led approach ensures the company is best placed to reap the benefits of being one of the only truly pan-European landlord-operators in multiple disciplines. It enables us amongst others to develop agile concepts for our tenants and help optimize their business across sectors."
Frans van Toor replaces Mulqueen in a promotion from head of Transactions Netherlands to head up the transaction team for EMEA. Van Toor, who joined the company in 2018, will now be responsible for overseeing the EMEA region transaction strategy, including deal sourcing, acquisitions and disposals.
