The Italian business of the Maltese manager Gamma Capital Markets has appointed three financial advisers with the aim of bolstering the firm's asset management team.

Paolo Manara, Giovanna Matarese and Marco Riccaboni join Gamma's financial advisory team in Italy. The trio brings a long experience in the asset management industry developed mainly in the Italian regions of Liguria and Lombardy. They will be responsible for expanding the firm's clients network.

Vito Ferito, commercial director of Gamma Capital Markets, said: "We are delighted to welcome Paolo, Giovanna and Marco, professionals with a long experience in the field of financial advisory and pioneers of the independent consulting model in Italy.

"We strongly believe in the fee-only advisory model, one of the pillars on which Gamma Capital Markets' services are based."

Gamma Capital launched in Italy last May opening offices in Milan and Turin with the aim to fill a gap the company felt was still relatively empty in the country.

Although the manager's launch was considered two decades ago in light of the opportunities that trading online and managed accounts were offering to professional investors, it was not up to 2010 when it first launched in Malta.

Tallying around €1bn in assets under management from European clients only, Gamma's business is 70% institutional and 30% retail, and exposure of the firm's client portfolios accounts for 70% to alternatives, 15% to equity and the remaining 15% to fixed income.
