Global equities in focus as Comgest's Zak Smerczak joins Nordic Summit

Zak Smerczak, analyst/portfolio manager Global Equities at Comgest, will present his outlook for the asset class at the upcoming Nordic Summit Stockholm 2019, being hosted by InvestmentEurope at the Grand Hotel in the Swedish capital on 12-13 March.
Like a number of asset classes, this one went from a relatively benign volatility environment in 2017 into a far more volatile 2018 as factors such as diverging macroeconomic development and rates policy impacted companies, while global markets saw the emergence of key concerns around the US-China trade relationship. Comgest has tackled this environment from not only a bottom up perspective, but also with key ESG criteria integrated into the approach, which Smerczak will explain further.
Smerczak joined Comgest in 2016. He started his career in 2006 at Deloitte in London, initially in Assurance & Advisory Services before moving to Transaction Services where he was responsible for operational and financial due diligence. In 2011 he joined Mirabaud Asset Management where he worked as an analyst covering global equities. In 2015 he moved to Polar Capital Holdings where he held the position of analyst/portfolio manager for the firm's global multi-asset income strategy. He holds a Bachelor of Business Science degree with Honours in Finance from the University of Cape Town. He is a CFA charterholder and has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland since 2009.
