Martin Currie, a Legg Mason affiliate and active equity specialist with $17bn of assets under management, has appointed two heads of distribution in Europe and the Americas.
Barry MacLennan joins as head of wholesale distribution in Europe. Based in Edinburgh, MacLennan will lead the alignment of sales efforts between Martin Currie and Legg Mason in the UK and across Europe. Mark Cho joins Martin Currie as head of intermediary distribution in the Americas. Based in New York, he will coordinate and align sales efforts in both the US and Latin American markets.
Columbia Threadneedle Investments has strengthened its credit capabilities with the appointment of three new investment professionals to its London-based team. Rosalie Pinkney joined as senior financial credit analyst, Christopher Hult joined as a portfolio manager and Angelina Chueh joined as a client portfolio manager.
Rosalie Pinkney brings 17 years' experience of analysis of financial institutions across fixed income and money markets. She joins from Aviva Investors. Christopher Hult joins from Coutts where he spent the last six years as a fixed income portfolio manager for their multi asset fund, covering sovereign and credit markets and managing the corporate bond portfolio. Angelina Chueh has more than 30 years' international experience in fixed income investments. She joins from Baring Asset Management London.
Natixis Investment Managers, with close to $1trnin AuM, has appointed Jochem Tielkemeijer as an investment consultant within its Dynamic Solutions team.
Tielkemeijer will be responsible for leading portfolio analysis and advisory services for clients in the UK, Netherlands and Nordic region. He joins Natixis from Fisher Investments Europe where he spent over 5 years first as an investment consultant and then as a group manager within the client services team. Prior to this, he worked at Finsens Investment Consultancy in Amsterdam.
Schroders' Andrew Rose, manager of the £2.3bn Schroder Tokyo fund and £250m Schroder Japan Growth investment trust has announced plans to retire from the industry in June.
Rose joined Schroders in 1981 and has held a number of roles within the Japan division including senior investment officer for Japan and most recently, head of Japanese equities.
Pictet has announced the forthcoming retirement of Nicolas Pictet from the group with effect from 1 September.
Pictet has been senior partner of the Pictet Group since 1991, and will be succeeded by Renaud de Planta, who joined Pictet as a partner in 1998. De Planta is the second most senior of Pictet's seven partners. He has spent much of his career at Pictet building and leading Pictet Asset Management, which now accounts for almost half of the group's assets under management and profits.
Fulcrum Asset Management has appointed Fidelity International's Howard Fryer as sales director, UK wholesale.
In his new role, Fryer will oversee the development of the firm's wholesale client base, both onshore and offshore, including life and insurance groups, strategic partners, nationals, networks and IFAs as well as platforms and UK rating agencies. Fryer joins from Fidelity International where he was a business development director.
Intertrust in Guernsey has promoted Laura Savident and Joe Woodward to directors in the private wealth team.
Savident joined Intertrust in 2017 as a manager in private wealth. She has 14 years' experience in the private client industry and has extensive knowledge of the formation and management of offshore entities across a variety of jurisdictions. Woodward moved to Guernsey in 2006 when he joined Intertrust as part of the trust and corporate team.
Appleby, the offshore law firm has announced that three new associates have joined its Guernsey office. Jennifer Rosser has joined the corporate department, while Andrew Murphy and Gary Orritt have been appointed to the dispute resolution team.
Rosser was admitted to the roll of solicitors in England and Wales in 2016 having trained and qualified at a regional firm in south Wales. Murphy has particular experience in insolvency-based litigation. He has acted for a portfolio of clients including insolvency practitioners, receivers and high street lenders. Oritt has advised clients on different aspects of litigation and dispute resolution after working within large UK law firms.
