Universal Investment has appointed Sean O'Driscoll as the new country head for Luxembourg, effective 1 February 2019.

O'Driscoll will be responsible for business development, local strategy setting, governance and day-to-day operations. Based in the Luxembourg branch office in Grevenmacher, he will report to group CEO Bernd Vorbeck. O'Driscoll completes the local management team with Stefan Rockel and Matthias Müller, both managing members of the Board of Directors.

Most recently, O'Driscoll served as country head at AXA Funds Management in the Great Duchy, being responsible for the overall ManCo governance. He has been working in the financial industry for more than 25 years, most of which in Europe. He started his career at State Street in Boston, Massachusetts, and moved to Ireland to build up the bank's Dublin office and expand business with institutional investors. After seven more years in Luxembourg as a part of the senior management team, he decided to leave State Street for BlackRock. There, he was responsible for the operations teams in Luxembourg and Ireland for over eight years before he started at AXA Funds Management in 2014.

In his new role at Universal Investment Luxembourg, O'Driscoll will further strengthen the strategic growth path of the Luxembourg platform which is focused on creating individual solutions for alternative assets as well as building fund structures for international asset managers. He will also be the key anchor point for the local market and its players, including the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry or the local financial sector authority CSSF.
