Swedish Investment Fund Association hits 40

The Swedish Investment Fund Association (Fondbolagens förening) has celebrated its 40th anniversary by noting that 80% of adult Swedes are invested in funds.

Including the Premium Pension system, the ratio is 100%. The Association counts 48 member firms, which account for some 90% of fund investments in the market. There are an additional 14 firms with associate membership, with links to the industry, such as law firms.

In 2018, total industry assets hit SEK4.434trn (€433bn), although market volatility at the end of the year overturned some seven years of gains on the local stock market.

Data to the end of November show that through the first 11 months of 2018, investors withdrew a net SEK22.1bn from equity funds, while short term fixed income funds saw SEK24.4bn invested on a net basis.
