Merian Global Investors has hired Edward Ho as its head of sales, Hong Kong.
Ho will report to London-based Warren Tonkinson, managing director, distribution. He has over 23 years' experience in the finance industry and joined Merian Global Investors from Wells Fargo Asset Management where he was managing director and Asia Pacific head of client relations from October 2015, based in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Merian Global Investors and Wells Fargo, Edward spent two decades on the trading floor with various investment banks working in management, sales and product structuring.
Credit Suisse has hired former Citi banker Natt Thanomsat as its new head of wealth management Thailand starting on March 20.
He takes over from Thippa Praneeprachachon. and will lead a team of investment planners, according to a press release by Credit Suisse. Based in Bangkok, he reports to Marcus Slöör, market group head Thailand and Vietnam, and locally to Chris Prasertsintanah, Thailand Country Manager.
HSBC has appointed Christopher Jones, a Chartered Financial Analyst and Management Accountant, to the position of head of trust relationship management for Private Wealth Solutions in the Channel Islands.
Jones, who previously worked in HSBC's private banking business in Hong Kong, will oversee the delivery of succession planning solutions to the Bank's high net worth and ultra high net worth clients.
Schroders has named Rory Bateman as head of equities. Bateman, who currently leads the UK and European equities investment desks, will replace Nicky Richards who will become a senior adviser at Schroders in March.
BNP Paribas Asset Management has recruited Hilda Tingle as global head of digital marketing.
Tingle previously worked in a similar role for JPMorgan's private bank arm. Mark Lewis has also joined BNP Paribas AM as head of climate change investment research. Lewis, who will be based in Paris, previously served as head of research at Carbon Tracker, a think-tank.
Kames Capital, the £42.5bn Edinburgh-based investment manager, has hired Laurent Frings as head of credit research. Mr Frings previously worked for Standard Life Aberdeen.
GAM Investments has hired Rob Mumford from MNP Advisers as investment manager on its global emerging markets equities team.
In his new role he will be based in Hong Kong and will work with Tim Love and Joaquim Nogueira, joining a team that runs more than $970m in assets, as at 30 November 2018.
Invesco has appointed Amundi's Hamid Asseffar to its ETF business development team.
Based in London, Asseffar will be responsible for growing the firm's ETF business with UK asset managers and family offices. At Amundi, he was a sales and marketing associate within the ETF indexing and smart-beta team. Prior to this, he worked at Credit Suisse on the trading strategy team.
