MFS hires Ted Maloney as chief investment officer

MFS Investment Management has appointed Edward M. 'Ted' Maloney as chief investment officer effective 1 January 2019. He succeeds Michael Roberge, who remains chief executive officer of MFS.

Maloney will be responsible for the continued development and success of MFS 'global investment platform. He will lead an international team of over 200 investment professionals and will oversee investment research, portfolio management, trading and risk management. He reports to Michael Roberge and becomes a member of the Management Committee.

Maloney joined MFS as a stock analyst in 2005 and became director of US Equity Research in 2011. Later, he switched to portfolio management, first as head of an international sector team and from 2012 as co-manager of diversified portfolios. In 2016, he was appointed global director of Research.
