MFS Investment Management has appointed Markus Hampel as managing director for Germany. He is responsible for the wholesale and retail business in Germany.
Hampel reports to Matthew Weisser, managing director and head of European Wholesale at MFS International Ltd.
Based in Frankfurt, Hampel will work with Sebastian Hesse and the MFS. He succeeds Andrea Baron, who has just moved to MFS's Milan office to oversee the wholesale business in Italy.
Most recently, Hampel was partner and responsible manager for German-speaking countries at Metropole Gestion. Since 2009, he has built up and managed the German-language wholesale business in this capacity. Prior to that, he was a member of the management of an international multi-family office for seven years, also as a partner. He began his career at Commerzbank AG, where he held various national and international positions.
MFS has been active in the wholesale business in Germany for ten years. Since then, the asset manager has provided clients with a variety of bond, equity and multi-asset solutions.
