Index maker Solactive has published a White Paper on Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), which looks at the securities issued by such institutions for purposes of, for example, infrastructure and technical assistance development.

Because of the involvement of sovereign governments in supporting MDB bond issuance, investors can access instruments with high credit ratings and returns comparable to sovereign bonds, but also support social and economic development objectives.

However, Solactive has published the White Paper to address what it calls a ‘blind spot’ for most investors, who are yet to tap into this particular market. As an index maker, Solactive has also been developing its presence in this market through the launch of its Solactive UBS Development Bank Bond Index Family of indices, which is divided into three main groups of bonds issued by development banks, by MDBs and by the World Bank.
