Investment banking and asset management firm William Blair has appointed Stephanie Braming as global head, in charge of the group’s overall strategic business decisions.
Based in Chicago, where William Blair is headquartered, Braming will join the group’s executive committee.
She replaces Michelle Seitz, who left the group in September to become CEO and board member of Russell Investments.
Prior to her new appointment, Braming worked as portfolio manager for the William Blair International Small Cap Growth and William Blair International Growth strategies, where she was responsible for almost USD20bn (€16.9bn) in client assets.
Braming joined William Blair in 2004 as an international and global equity product specialist, and has contributed among others to the group’s portfolio construction, portfolio design and held a key role in the enhancement of the firm’s systematic research tools. She has also led the design and launch of several strategies including those focused on China A-Share and Japan.
Prior to joining the firm, she was among others principal at Mercer Investment Consulting, and at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. She is also a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Chicago, where she served on the Society’s board of directors.
