Renowned hedge fund BlueCrest Capital Management has appointed Andrew Berger as portfolio manager based in the firm’s New York office, InvestmentEurope has learned.

Prior to joining BlueCrest in April, Berger spent almost six years at Goldman Sachs where he was a vice-president on the agency residential mortgage-backed securities trading desk.

He also worked as a portfolio manager with Pteron Group Inc where he managed a portfolio of short-term equity, equity derivatives, currency and commodity positions.

Bloomberg reported last January that BlueCrest achieved returns of 54% over 2017, exceeding these of almost 50% recorded the year before.

BlueCrest has offices in London, Geneva, New York, Singapore, Jersey, Boston, Connecticut, Toronto, São Paulo and Hong Kong.
