US alternative boutique names CIO

Chicago headquartered boutique Victory Park Capital, focusing on private middle market debt and equity investments, has appointed Upacala Mapatuna as chief investment officer.

In her new position, Upacala will sit on VPC’s investment and management committees and be involved in overseeing VPC’s current and future funds.

Mapatuna has more than 20 years of financial industry experience. She was formerly a managing director at Goldman Sachs where she spent 12 years and a member of the Alternative Investments and Manager Selection group.

Before working for Goldman Sachs, Mapatuna has held various positions in the investment industry, including at Mill Road Capital, a private equity firm focused on investing in undervalued public market micro-cap companies, Warburg Pincus, a leading global private equity firm, and Lazard Capital Partners, the private equity affiliate of Lazard.

She began her career at the board of governors of the Federal Reserve.

Founded in 2007, Victory Park Capital has also offices in New York, Los Angeles, London and San Francisco.
