AXA rebrands venture capital business

Insurance and asset management group AXA has rebranded its venture capital firm AXA Strategic Ventures into AXA Venture Partners.
The $450m firm invests in enterprise software and ‘disruptive technology’; some 32 deals have been made since it launched in 2016. Recent investments have gone to areas including cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital health, software as a service (Saas) technology and fintech. Currently, the business includes 12 investment professionals, including six partners, focused on two strategies: direct investment ($275m) and fund of funds ($175m). Offices affected by the rebrand are located in San Francisco, New York, London, Paris and Hong Kong.
AXA Venture Partners also acts as a conduit for companies seeking access to AXA’s broader global network, brand and scale. The ticket sizes considered range from £0.3m to $20m, and range from seed investments to growth equity stakes, AXA notes.
Francois Robinet, managing partner, AXA Venture Partners, said: “This rebrand marks an important milestone in our development. We have seen growth far exceeding our initial expectations when we launched only two years ago. We have opened new offices, launched a second strategy in fund of funds, expanded the team and partnered with 32 exciting and innovative businesses. Although we are still a young and dynamic firm we feel the new identity better reflects who we are as a company today and our future ambitions. The new brand draws on our partnership ethos, our investment scope, and our ambitions.”
“As we begin our third year we have a strong pipeline and we continue to aggressively seek opportunities to partner with entrepreneurial businesses which can benefit from our experience in working with fast growing businesses and our model of helping portfolio companies accelerate growth and scale with AXA.”
