London-based boutique Waverton Investment Management has appointed William Dinning as head of Investment Strategy and Communications, effective since 3 August.
Dinning will sit into Waverton’s asset allocation committee and will lead the external communication of the firm’s investment views to both existing and potential clients.
In his new role, he will also co-ordinate the boutique’s ‘top-down’ investment strategies.
Dinning was most recently head of Investment Strategy at Coal Pension Trustees, where he contributed to run the £20bn Coal Industry pension schemes. He formerly held positions at UBS Warburg, Merrill Lynch and Kames Capital across London, Hong Kong, Edinburgh and New York.
Commenting the appointment, Waverton’s chief executive Andrew Fleming said: “Having worked with William in establishing a great asset allocation track record at Kames, I am thrilled to have someone of his calibre join the team here at Waverton. His appointment follows that of Jennifer Fisher to the newly created role of head of Equity Research in May.
“William will help strengthen our investment capabilities even further, and is an important hire at a time when firms will need to generate more of their own research in the post MIFID II environment.”
As at 30 June 2017, Waverton had around £5.2bn (€5.75bn) of assets under management.
