S&P Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) and RobecoSAM have today announced the results of the annual DJSI Review, featuring the top 10% of sustainable companies in 24 industry groups globally. The index also marks its 15th anniversary.

Industry leaders for 2014-2015 include BMW, Siemens, ING Groep NV, LG Electronics Inc, GlaxoSmithKline PLC, British American Tobacco PLC and others.

Guido Giese, head of Indices at RobecoSAM comments:“In 15 years, the total number of companies we assess has more than quadrupled. We have also developed new sustainability benchmarks for investors such as country and regional indices.”

The DJSI follow a best-in-class approach, including companies across all industries that outperform their peers in numerous sustainability metrics. Each year over 3,000 companies, including 800 companies from emerging markets, are invited to participate in the assessment.

As this year marks the 15th anniversary of the indices, Robeco SAM has also awarded companies which managed to stay in the DJSI World for the past 15 years. These include Novo Nordisk A/S, BT group PLC, Unilever and SAP.
