Henderson Global Investors (Henderson GI) has launched a diversified global credit strategy as a UK Qualified Investor Scheme (UK QIS). The Rexam Pension Plan is the seed investor.

It will be run by Henderson’s investment strategy group with Stephen Thariyan, global head of Credit, and Colin Fleury, head of Secured Credit, as lead portfolio managers.

The fund will invest in corporate bonds in both developed and emerging markets, secured loans and ABS.

Nick Adams, head of EMEA Institutional at Henderson, says: “The launch of this institutional strategy continues our long-standing approach of working with clients to develop new strategies that meet their needs. As investors focus on the possibility of rising interest rates and the resulting impact on traditional bond markets, we are seeing increased demand for credit strategies which can form part of a scheme’s growth allocation and generate a decent level of return.

“By building on from the launch of our successful multi-asset credit fund three years ago, this new broader global credit strategy will further strengthen our institutional offering to clients.”
