Spanish top value investing manager Francisco García Paramés will co-manage the funds of its own boutique Cobas AM with Andrés Allende and John Barden.
With almost 15 years in the sector, Allende joins AM from Standard Life Investments, where he was director of emerging markets. Prior to this, Allende was senior portfolio manager at Allianz Global Investors. He was also fund manager at RAB Capital and Credit Suisse.
Prior to join Cobas AM, Barden — who holds more than 20 years experience in the sector — was partner at Matrix Alternative Asset Management and Olympus Capital. He was also director at AIG Global Investment Corp (Europe).
The investment team of the new boutique of Paramés will comprise these three managers and seven analysts.
The analysts supporting the managers are Peter Smith (who will be based in London), Vicente Martín, Juan Huerta de Soto, Carmen Pérez, Juan Miguel Cantus, Iván Chvedine y Mingkun Chan.
Cobas AM also announced it has received formal authorisation for its launch from the Spanish market regulator CNMV.
In the coming days, the asset manager will carry out all procedures to request the approval of its four new funds — Cobas International, Cobas Iberia, Cobas Major Companies and Cobas Treasury.
To invest in its four new funds, it will be necessary, at least until the end of March, an initial minimum investment of €25,000. After this period, the minimum investment will be reduced to one participation.
