The overall trading volume on the Bolsa de Madrid totalled €64.6bn in October 2017, up 47% year-on-year and 53% compared to the previous month.
Over the first ten months of the year, the trading volume totalled €557.6bn, a figure in line with the same period in 2016.
Some 5.2 millions of equity trades were recorded on the Spanish stock market in October 2017, up 47% month-on-month and up 24% year-on-year.
The number of equity trades to the end of October totalled 43.4 millions, a figure down 4.7% year-on-year.
As for the ETF segment, the trading volume in October came in at €721.4m, up 176.2% month-on-month and also up 146% on a yearly basis.
The Spanish stock market saw 13,022 ETF trades registered in October, a 162% increase month-on-month and also up 50% year-on-year.
To the end of October, the trading volume on the Warrants and Certificates market totalled €395.9m, down 35% year-on-year. The trading volume in this segment in October was €56.4m, up 60.4% month-on-month.
Futures and Options
The trading volume in the derivatives market reached 3.4 million contracts in October, a figure up 1.2% year-on-year.
The trading volume in IBEX 35 Plus Futures in October was 730,985 contracts and 202,620 contracts for IBEX 35 Mini Futures, up respectively 45.1% and 42.6% year-on-year.
The trading volume in IBEX 35 Options in October came in at 828,649 contracts, up 309.8% compared to the same period in 2016.
Over the first ten months of the year, the trading volume amounted to 3.3 million contracts, up 31.4% year-on-year.
Public debt trading volume registered on SENAF (BME’s electronic wholesale Public Debt platform) recorded €12 bn in October, up 46.3% month-on-month.
In the same month, new issues admitted to trading on the private debt market in October reached €15.6 bn, up 113.4% from October 2016, bringing total trading volume for the
first ten months of the year to €98bn(-7.3%).
New admissions on MARF in October came in at €460m, up 27.8% year-on-year.
