The Italian asset manager Algebris Investments has launched the Algebris Core Italy Fund, an Algebris Ucits Fund plc sub-fund that complies with the PIR fund regulation’s requirements introduced in Italy (tax-exempt and long-term individual savings plans).

The fund will primarily invest in Italian bonds and equities (initially 70/30), focusing on the small/mid-cap segment of the market.

Equity specialist Luca Mori will provide research support to the fund’s management, working alongside Italian stock market analyst Federica Bombelli and both will be reporting to Algebris Investments’ founder and CEO Davide Serra.

Algebris’ founder and CEO Davide Serra said: “Since the Algebris Core Italy Fund’s launch, the company has expanded its presence in Italy, now investing and contributing to the country’s economic recovery. PIRs are an extraordinary opportunity for Italian investors and we want to offer them an interesting and fairly priced solution that enables them to contribute to Italy’s growth by investing in top quality companies.”

Equity specialist Luca Mori added: “PIRs represent a huge opportunity for the Italy’s economic system and also for savers, who can diversify their portfolio advantageously with a new form of medium/long-term investment.”
